Mieka Hairdressing opened in Collingwood on July 3rd 1997 by founder Tracey Hughes and has become one of Australia's most influential salons, known for its technical excellence and outstanding customer focus.
Mieka Hairdressing is now owned by Tracey Hughes and husband Simon Moulden with the Salon Directors of each salon being shareholders in the company.
Tracey's career began in 1986 with her apprenticeship at leading UK salon Christopher Boyton and she qualified in 1989. After travelling to Australia as a backpacker, Tracey fell in love with the country and migrated to Australia permanently in 1991.
Strongly influenced by the best of British hairdressing including Vidal Sassoon and Boyton, Tracey adopted their philosophy of technical perfection, which is now synonymous with the Mieka Hairdressing brand.
Tracey's highly impressive hairdressing skills combined with her infectious energy make her a highly sought after educator worldwide evidenced by her being awarded Australian Educator of the Year three times.
Olivia Zynevych and Lucas Dowling both joined the Mieka team in 2007 and under the personal mentorship of Tracey, they were coached to become the talented hairdressers they are today.
Olivia is now the Salon Director of Mieka Collingwood and Lucas is the Salon Director of Mieka Nobby Beach.
Mieka Hairdressing is regularly featured in the media, contributing to fashion magazines and websites along with radio and television appearances. Mieka's work has been published in over 50 magazines worldwide including numerous front covers.
Australian Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week are where you will see the team working on the latest hair trends for leading fashion designers including Kookai, Camilla, Ms Couture, Flowers for a Vagabond, Plasidapparel, Krysalis Couture, Nathan Paul Swimwear, Emma Veall, Garth Cook, Luisa Fredrica, Ivana-Marija Stipicic, By Jonny, Vivienne Tam, Kaeleen, Magda Velevska, Konstantina Mittas ,Gary Begeni and Alex Perry.
Each team member has assisted in making Mieka one of Australia's most highly awarded salons with over 200 awards to their credit including 2012 and 2011 Australian Salon of the Year.
