Tracey Hughes is the founder and Director of Mieka Hairdressing. She began her career in the UK in 1986 and chose to call Australia her home after a trip backpacking to Australia. Mieka was established by Tracey in 1997.
Tracey is a strongly self motivated individual with impressive hairdressing skills, knowledge and creativity. She has won countless awards including Educator of the Year, Hairdresser of the Year, Colourist of the Year and has led her team to win Salon of the Year an astonishing 8 times.
A highly sought after educator in the hairdressing industry Tracey has presented educational shows across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, India, South Africa, Mexico, USA and UK.
Tracey is also proud to be Artistic Director for Redken Australia and part of the Global Artistic Network for Redken. Her popularity as an educator prompted Tracey to launch her own education company, Tracey Hughes Education, which provideshairdressing educational DVDs worldwide (www.traceyhughes.com.au).
Tracey works with many leading fashion designers as the Hair Director at Australian Fashion Week, Sydney Fashion Festival and New York Fashion Week. Her striking photographic work is regularly seen on front covers of numerous magazines around the world and she is a popular hair fashion advisor to the Media.
Tracey is responsible for the representation of the Mieka brand as well as training and mentoring the team. Whilst she spends a lot of her time travelling, Tracey still actively works within Mieka and enjoys nothing more than coaching her team members and having a good chat with Mieka clients.
Tracey's commitment to the industry was acknowledged when she was awarded 2011 Australian Masters for her dedication to hairdressing.
Olivia is responsible for the daily management of our Collingwood salon and prides herself on the personal customer service she provides to all of her clients. As a Redken Certified Haircolourist, Olivia has a keen eye for suitability and produces work that is undeniably beautiful and wearable yet has a distinctive edge.
Olivia began her career in regional Victoria and from her very first day as an apprentice she was fortunate to be trained by Tracey Hughes. Olivia relocated to Melbourne to join Mieka and further flourished as she continued to develop her skills which is evidenced by her becoming a finalist for 2011 Australian Colourist of the year.
As Olivia's natural leadership talents excelled and her business acumen became evident, Tracey offered her a share in the business in 2010.
Now Olivia is proudly a Director of Mieka Hairdressing she is dedicated to upholding the integrity of Mieka's brand, the quality of work and the great service for which the salon is known.
Lucas is responsible for the daily management of our Nobby Beach salon. Lucas is a talented and experienced stylist who loves to challenge his clients with brilliant suggestions that are on trend, creative and most importantly suitable.
Lucas joined the Mieka team in 2007 and progressed through to management level in 2010. Lucas has shadowed Tracey Hughes at her education events for numerous years and has grown into a confident educator from this personal coaching.
Lucas prides himself on his styling work and is regularly working backstage at Australian Fashion Week, Sydney Fashion Festival and Melbourne Fashion Festival. He masterfully translates these catwalk looks into easy to do hair-do's for his clients.
Lucas relocated back to his home town on the Gold Coast in 2011 to establish Mieka Nobby Beaach with Tracey. Lucas is now a Director of Mieka Hairdressing and he loves the dynamic team atmosphere and education culture of Mieka. He works diligently to uphold the brand's ethos.
Felicity began her career as a hairdresser in 1998 but soon realized her strength was in her people skills more than her technical skills. So she pursued her love of hairdressing through customer service and organizational fields. She has now progressed to management level where her true talents lie.
Being very much a people's person, Felicity's infectious smile and warm nature greets every client as they walk through the doors.
Felicity is responsible for being the Host of the salon and she runs a well organised and professional team, whilst still maintaining a relaxed atmosphere throughout the salon.
Felicity prides herself on making our clients feel welcome and comfortable whilst in the salon, and delights in ensuring our clients are happy, confident and look fantastic as they walk away from their Mieka experience.
Amelia embarked on her journey at Mieka when Mieka was established in 1997. The first apprentice to be employed at Mieka Amelia flourished under the guidance from Tracey.
Amelia completed her apprenticeship and qualified in 2001. A change of heart and career direction Amelia chose to further her education in other design fields. A natural flair for fashion and undeniable people skills Amelia enjoys the diversity of all creative industries.
Amelia continues to work at Mieka part time as a Salon Co-ordinator, whilst completing a Degree in BA- Textile Design.
Amelia loves the interaction with our clients and enjoys making them feel great whilst in the salon.
Emma joined Mieka Hairdressing in 2000 as an apprentice and completed her advanced technical training with Tracey.
After qualifying, working and gaining experience as a Senior Colourist, Emma left work to pursue her dream of a family. Now a proud Mum, Emma has happily returned to Mieka to take on the rewarding part time role as Salon Coordinator.
Emma is a natural and genuine people person and effortlessly supports and facilitates the team in all aspects of the daily operations. Striving for the highest levels of customer service, she organizes the hustle and bustle of the Collingwood salon ensuring all interactions are pleasant and professional.
Originally from Melbourne, D'Artanian Dior is a Master Stylist at Mieka Collingwood. This talented, award winning stylist has vast international experience including several years working in London.
D'Artanian enjoys a challenge and loves to push creative boundaries. He is extremely talented and has built himself a solid reputation having won numerous hairdressing awards for styling. He is also our Bridal Specialist as his talent for creating a special do is outstanding.
As an experienced Great Lengths Educator he enjoys working with the team to develop their skills and thrives on the coaching he receives from Tracey.

Bernie commenced hairdressing at the age of 17 and has now been in the hairdressing industry for almost 30 years!
This experienced master stylist has dedicated her life to her passion for hair and to raising 4 beautiful children while always being supported by her wonderful husband.
Bernie has been fortunate to further her career as her family have grown up. In 2010 she undertook in-depth training with the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. She also completed certificate 4 in Training and Education to certify her as an industry teacher however Bernie believes the highlight of her career has been the mentoring she has received from Tracey.
Bernie enjoys researching trends to come up with great new hair designs for her clients. A fantastic communicator, her love is for people and for providing the best service her clients.
Bernie thrives on the expertise within the Mieka team and her professional development to keep learning no matter how vast her experience level is.
Amy kick started her hairdressing career in Sunny Queensland where she began her apprenticeship at a local boutique salon in Brisbane.
After becoming a qualified hairdresser, Amy began working at a highly regarded and multi award winning salon Togninis where she gained extensive knowledge and expertise. These skills are at a level that make Amy a great asset to the Mieka team and enable her to produce high and consistent standards of hair.
She is certified in Great Lengths and is our hair extension specialist at Nobby Beach. With over ten years experience in the hairdressing industry Amy flourishes on having the ability to change your look to make you feel great about yourself.
Amy has a passion for styling and dressing hair for special occasions, events, and weddings. She has an energetic attitude towards learning as well as having the capability to enhance the salon atmosphere with her warm and cheerful personality.
Katherine is an experienced hairdresser who is also a talented make up artist. Originally from Auckland New Zealand, Katherine moved to Melbourne in 2011 in pursuit of new opportunities to further her career.
Katherine's passion for giving every client a great salon experience is what drives her. She is creative and has a keen eye for suitability.
Katherine is eager to learn and excited for the challenges and training Mieka has to offer. She is particularly interested in creating outstanding colours that work in harmony with a beautiful haircut.
Drawing her inspiration from those around her, Katherine has a natural, professional and gentle approach towards her clients, team members and her work.
Jemma started her career in 2004 in sunny Cairns and after becoming a qualified hairdresser in 2008, she said goodbye to her loyal clientele and moved to Melbourne in search of new challenges.
Jemma excitedly joined the team at Mieka and underwent an indepth training program to hone her skills even further. She has successfully completed every Redken Education course. Jemma is also certified in Great Lengths Hair Extensions.
Jemma has worked closely with Tracey and assisted her on many seminars, shows and photographic shoots. In 2010 Jemma proudly made it onto the session styling team and got the opportunity to work backstage at Sydney Fashion Festival and Australian Fashion Week.
Adept in creative cutting and with an individual approach to colour, Jemma also flourishes in the area of styling and hair-up promising you a great do for that special night out.
Jemma's lovely warm smile brightens up everyone's day and her positive energy permeates the salon.
Jemma loves nothing more than helping clients feel more confident in the way they appear to others. A young enthusiastic hairdresser Jemma has completed all her training and believes that colour is the key to enhancing a beautiful haircut.
Orginally from regional NSW, Jemma relocated to the sunny Gold Coast to join the exciting team at Mieka in Nobby Beach.
Jemma enjoys the team support within Mieka to further her education and has ambitions to work on fashion weeks in all parts of the globe. A motivated individual Jemma thrives on constant education to enable her to share new ideas, techniques and products with our clients.
A talented, young, motivated individual Zoe began her apprenticeship with Mieka.
Zoe has a natural flair for hairdressing very rarely seen. A gifted artist Zoe thrives on learning and loves to be challenged.
Zoe has completed all her training and assessments within Mieka to become multi-skilled stylist and colourist. Also specializing in hair-up Zoe has assisted Tracey on numerous seminars and photographic shoots. Zoe is determined to continue her training as she never wants to stop learning or evolving as hairdresser.
Zoe has won 2010 Outstanding Student of the Year, and was nominated for Apprentice of the Year. She has the potential to be one of the future superstars of the hairdressing industry.
Mark commenced his apprenticeship with Mieka after deciding on a career change at the age of 21.
Mark has always had a keen eye for fashion and recognising the impact fashion has on hair trends, and came to realize early in his career that hairdressing would satisfy his creative yearnings.
A keen and eager learner, Mark excels during his training sessions and has the ability to quickly pick up techniques. Having passed all his assessments to date with honors, Mark has chosen to specialize as a colorist.
Mark loves the diversity each day brings including all the people he gets to meet through hairdressing and the unique team spirit within Mieka.
A dedicated person, Mark has high aspirations to become one of Australia's leading Colourists.
Eloise has eagerly joined the Nobby Beach Salon with an enthusiastic attitude to learn.
After 12 months of extensive training at Hairdressing College under her belt Eloise is now ready for the challenge of undergoing in depth training to become trained by Mieka’s excellent high standards.
Eloise prides herself on being able to deliver a service that enables her clients to reach their potential with their looks through her artistic skills.
This young and energized woman has set the highest of aspirations for herself in the hairdressing industry including obtaining hairdresser of the year award!
Melvin brings a fresh, young and fashionable flair to the Mieka Collingwood team.
This enthusiastic man has extensive experience having previously worked as Salon Coordinator in New Zealand. He is extremely driven to be an integral part of the hairdressing industry and is adamant about his own as well as others individuality.Passionate about being creative, Melvin is very aware and inspired by people expressing themselves through their looks, fashion and hair.
Dedicated to the profession, Melvin enjoys pushing boundaries as has future aspirations to collaborate both fashion and hair at Fashion shows around the globe.
Simon Moulden joined the Mieka team in 2005 after marrying Tracey. He then chose to have a career change and support Tracey in running the business side of Mieka.
With a career previously in the hospitality industry, Simon has extensive experience as a talented chef. He progressed through the ranks to Executive Chef where he managed a team, co-ordinated a kitchen and administered the budgets.
Upon joining Mieka, Simon worked as a Salon Coordinator to get to know the clients, the team and the hairdressing industry.
Simon now is responsible for the financial management of Mieka. He is fully competent in all aspects of bookkeeping and takes pride in running a smooth financial operation.
Simon is also Traceys number one fan, supporting her throughout all her education events and is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Tracey Hughes educational DVDs, which is becoming a huge job in itself.
Krystal has joined the Mieka team as Tracey’s Personal Assistant.
Originally from Sydney, Krystal moved to the Gold Coast, where she completed her university education graduating with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Management. She then pursued her own creative writing business alongside managing a busy Gold Coast café.
As Tracey's Personal Assistant, Krystal manages the hectic workload in all aspects of Tracey’s businesses to ensure the operations are all running smoothly.
Krystal naturally interacts with people of all walks of life and prides herself on her ability to draw from her extensive business and personal network within the community.
